The best coffee houses in Brixton

From the finest Asian cuisine to the best Caribbean fare, the sights and aromatic smells encountered on a visit to Brixton will leave day trippers wanting to head back for more.

There's another distinctive aroma which wafts its way around the streets of Brixton: coffee. Brixtonians love their coffee. This is testament to the number of independent coffee shops which have sprung up in the area in recent years. Come a Friday or Saturday morning, queues for coffee are not an uncommon sight, while venues famed for their generously-sized brunch portions will likely be packed.

If you love your coffee, it's as well to know where to go for the best coffee when in Brixton. If you're planning to move to the area, and you like to start the day with a cup of strong brew in your hand, read on for our list of the best coffee shops in Brixton:

Federation Coffee

This coffee shop scores highly on TripAdvisor, and we have to agree. This very special café serves up some of the best coffee in Brixton. Their house espresso blend is roasted in North London at Campbell & Syme, and it changes from season to season. So locals can always expect to try something different. For the coffee aficionado, this is the place to come.

San Marino

Brixton's favourite Italian coffee bar, this is a great place for a strong cup of coffee, a sit down, and a hot panini. A real credit to the local area, you can always guarantee good quality food and drink at this establishment.

Opus

Don't make do with Starbucks up the road, try Opus. And don't be driven off by its rather uninspiring façade. This coffee shop serves up great coffee and sandwiches. It's a family-run business, and the service is always friendly.

Brockwell Blend

Located on Tulse Hill, this café has a warm, community-focused feel to it. Taking their blends from Volcano Coffee Works and Nude Coffee Roasters, their beans don't have to travel far as both roasters are based in London. The décor's uplifting, and it's the kind of place where you can sit comfortably with a laptop for an hour or two, sipping at a cup of coffee, of course. Watch out for the moreish pastries though.

Stir Coffee Brixton

This Brixton Hill establishment attracts the hipster crowd. It's a trendy spot, as reflected in the furnishings, but the coffee is excellent quality. The atmosphere is relaxed and laid-back, and many local workers conduct informal business meetings here. If you happen to be taking a day off from drinking coffee, there's a rather good selection of bottled beers available too.

We rather like our coffee, but the Battersea or Brixton property market is really our speciality. Whether you want to know about property for sale in Brixton or properties to rent in Brixton, get in touch with us today.
