From a celebration of Caribbean culture to a gig featuring a selection of female-fronted bands, Brixton has an eclectic mix of events going on this week.

things to do in BrixtonTonight (Monday 16 November) an exhibition of photographs featuring family portraits from Bhopal 30 years after the disaster at the Union Carbide pesticide plant which resulted in more than 3,500 deaths opens at Photofusion on Electric Lane.

The images, which also feature panoramas of Bhopal, are the work of photographer Francesca Moore and will remain on show until 4 December.

Laugh Out London at the Dogstar on Coldharbour Lane on Tuesday 17 November will feature Edinburgh comedy award winner Sam Simmons in a night of alternative comedy. Doors open at 7.30pm and the first act is on stage at 8pm. Tickets cost £5 in advance or £7 on the night.

A live music night takes place at the Ritzy, also on Coldharbour Lane, on Wednesday 18 November. Laid Bare is hosted by local musician Rami Radi, who will introduce the best musicians, singers and poets south London has to offer. The free event starts at 7.30pm.

One Hand Can’t Clap presents Common Ties at Clapham Library on Thursday 19 November when award-winning entrepreneur, coach and Woman of Proverbs Lorlett Hudson will take part in a celebration of Caribbean heritage and culture. The free event starts at 6pm.

On Friday 20 November, funk and soul band Atlantic Soul Orchestra play The Blues Kitchen, while Loud Woman Night takes place at Vegbar when all-woman and female-fronted punk/rock/pop bands will be on stage.
