Congregate Brixton 2018: Festival celebrating cultural diversity returns

Posted on by within Brixton

Congregate Brixton, a local community festival which celebrates the arts and the diversity of Brixton, is set to return this year.

Congregate Brixton 2018

The day-long event is free to attend and will feature live music, street art, visual art, street food and stalls, as well as a series of talks and horticulture workshops.

Market traders will be on hand selling an array of food and drink – so attendees won't go hungry.

The event will run from 12:00pm to 8:00pm on Saturday 12th May 2018 in Windrush Square, SW2.

Hosted by Absent Minded Poetics, the likes of Shumba Youth and Reggae Roast, fixtures of the UK reggae scene, will be in attendance, while blues and jazz players will also feature.

Congregate Brixton is only the first of a series of music events designed to "reinvigorate local entertainment, media and creative aspirations for young people, developing professional skills and talents".

Four other events are in the pipeline, all organised by AndWhat? LDN, SmallWorld Urbanism and Bringing our Communities Together, which will be held later in the year.

If you're out and about in Brixton this weekend, we recommend this event for anyone who likes street food, art, live music and community spirit.
