Rapport Festival 2018 returns to Brixton for second year

Posted on by within Brixton

Rapport Festival returns to Brixton this month, with a jam-packed schedule of live music, cinema, theatre, talks and debates and visual art with a focus on the stories of artists from the African and Caribbean communities.

Rapport Festival 2018
This year's festival, which runs from Friday 15th – Sunday 17th June 2018, will bring live performance to the streets, open spaces, and venues across Brixton.

London Borough of Lambeth resident, Lara Samuels, who refers to Brixton as 'my spiritual home', launched the festival last year.

Of the festival, Samuels said: "I want to deliver art the community wants, that the audience feels part of...That’s why so much of the festival is out in public. It makes it easier for people to say ‘what’s happening? I want to be part of it."

Many of the events take place in and around Brixton in the streets and open spaces, and these events are completely free to attend. However, for film screenings at venues there will be a fee, but early bird ticket discounts are available.

As well as film screenings, the public can look in on a photography exhibition, live theatre and dance performance, and much more.

The focus is the power of street art and performance and telling community stories in a lively and accessible way.

There's always something going on in Brixton, but if you're at a loose end the weekend of the festival, we suggest you check this festival out.
