Battersea is a massively popular and bustling area situated between two commons, in fact this is the place to be over the Christmas period – you can start looking for properties today by getting in touch with our Battersea office team. South London is a lovely place to reside in if you’re looking for wide, open spaces and easy transport links. It’s also a brilliant place for Christmas shopping, with a range of exciting shops from which you can pick up some lovely gifts and knick-knacks.

We decided to give you heads-up on the best places for shopping in this cosy corner of SW11 during the festive season...

New Covent Garden Flower Market

Surprisingly enough, this flower market ISN’T situated in Covent Garden. Instead you can find it nestling by Pascal Street, just off Wandsworth Road. Funnily enough you can find a wonderful selection of...flowers, plants and foliage to pick up here - all at wholesale prices! There are daily fresh deliveries from overseas along with English produce. The market opens at an eye-wateringly early hour (3am) with over 50 companies preparing to sell their daily produce. You can only purchase product by the box or bunch, or you can choose to buy in bulk. This is the perfect place to visit for Christmas shopping in Battersea – so make sure you get yourself down there.

Northcote Road Market

Northcote Road market is a fabulous place to shop if you’re looking for a range of pretty trinkets. You can also grab a decent lunch as there’s plenty of food on offer! This ranges from a bakery stall to a fish monger, to vegetable stalls, as well as local art, clothes, antiques, flowers and more. Everything is sourced locally, which means food is fresh and of high quality. Prices are very reasonable too. Eat Me Cakes is another great stall. With a range of vividly coloured muffins and cup cakes it will delight even the most discerning of cake lovers. And remember that you can always browse the local shops, such as Whistles, Iris, Petit Bateau and Crew, if you’re looking for something more mainstream.

Iris

A fashion boutique based on Northcote road, this stylish shop has a range of gifts you could buy for friends and family alike. Whatever you’re looking for, there’s a range of special luxury gift items that will surely fit the bill. The much anticipated Isabel Marant Étoile collection for S/S 14 is now available too, with new season deliveries from brands such as Chinti and Parker, MIH Jeans and Duffy.

Barker & Stonehouse

Recently opened in Battersea, the new store occupies one of the most historic buildings south of the Thames - the old Candle Factory on York Road. The Farris Candle collection will be continued to be sold in the new store too. Pick up a wide range of contemporary furniture, from chairs to beds to tables and there’s even a brilliant selection of accessories, from pots to rugs to cushions (and much easier to deliver - always helpful).

And finally...

Il Molino

With all this Christmas shopping in Battersea you’re going to be tired. So make sure you pop into a cafe to watch the world go by and for a well-earned break. One option is Il Molino on Lavendar Hill, near Clapham Junction. Here there’s a range of yummy pastries and amazing coffee with friendly staff to boot.

We hope that these tips help you out when you’re out and about looking to find the right presents. We wish you all a very Happy Christmas!
