Brixton bar raising the roof with summer fun
Tue 11 Jun 2024
Set to open next month, Freight promises to be the largest open-air rooftop venue in the capital, boasting a capacity of 1,000. Located on the rooftop above the Pope’s Road branch of Sports Direct, this mega-venue will feature street food pop-ups, day parties, night markets, themed brunches, and massive screenings of football and other sports events.
Freight will launch on Friday July 5th, kicking off a summer of kitchen residencies. The first residency will feature Rice Paddy, led by Paul Asher, who will serve Northern Thai-inspired cuisine. Following this, Robin Gill of Darby’s fame will bring a Tennessee-style BBQ, and finally, Ruben’s Reubens will close out the season with a focus on smoked meats. Additionally, Breddos Tacos will be serving up their popular dishes.
The venue will house two bars: Hotel Campari, offering aperitivo, and the Casamigos-sponsored House of Friends Tequila Bar, serving fro-margs and frozen strawberry & watermelon palomas. Beers will be provided by Brixton Brewery and wine will come from the Battersea-based urban winery Blackbook.
