Brixton House - Performance in the Heart of Brixton

In the 1960s directors Peter and Joan Oliver created Ovalhouse, an inclusive theatre space for local young people, community members and marginalised artists, writers and performers. Decades later Ovalhouse evolved for more modern times and opened the new purpose-built Brixton House in 2022. The new modern theatre is located in the heart of Brixton in Coldharbour Lane and is a home for creativity and expression.
Affectionately known as ‘Our House’ the building has two performance spaces, seven rehearsal rooms suitable for everything from aerial skills to film production, high-quality technical facilities and fully accessible spaces, including wheelchair-accessible rigs.
The popular café and bar will be open to the public throughout the day for social gatherings as well as for meetings and creative arts. The building development is part of the Somerleyton Road Development Project in partnership with the London Borough of Lambeth. As both an established community and brand new theatrical venue Brixton House aims to serve the residents and the creative community of Brixton and beyond.
June’s performances include dance production ‘It Begins In Darkness’, promenade theatre show ‘The Trials and Passions of Unfamous Women’ and moving one-man show ‘Everything I Own’. For more details of these performances and to book tickets visit
