Brixton Windmill and the Windmill gardens are an asset to the SW2 community, welcoming visitors to its beautiful, award winning gardens and historical setting.

The Friends of Windmill Gardens host open days at the Brixton Windmill on the second weekend of each month from March to October. These open days present a unique opportunity to gain deeper insights into this significant historical landmark and see how it is still working today.  Visitors will be able to see the internal workings on the first floor of the original mill and see how flour is milled today by electric powered millstones.

During these events tours of the windmill are offered for £5, and the gift shop and café are open for all to enjoy. Those on the tour also get given a 10% off voucher for use in the gift shop.

Children are very welcome, but because of the steep ladders they are not allowed to go above the first floor if they are less than 1.2m tall and they must be able to climb the stairs by themselves. You will not be able to carry babies and young children on the stairs.

The tours are popular and its advised to book a place early; full details can be found at
