New Champagne bar set to open in Brixton

Brixton’s set to get its first champagne bar as the area moves further towards gentrification. After the estate agents, Foxtons, opened on Brixton road, apparently now a Waitrose is coming (always a sign of prosperity apparently). Champagne + Fromage is the second branch of the bar, bistro and deli, with the first opening in Covent Garden. But the announcement hasn’t been without controversy - with many residents complaining that the move means that Brixton is losing its community feel and spirit and will simply attract more chains to the area. The champagne bar will launch in Granville Arcade but Brixton Market is widely known for its eclectic, non-pretentious vibe. And with market traders concerned about further rent rises some fear it’ll drive locals away.

We’ll have to see what happens, but one thing’s for sure - Brixton continues to be a great place for eating and drinking.
